New Spring 2015 Season – Rehearsals Start February 3

There will be a meet and greet open house at 7pm on February 3rd, with refreshments.

We have been around for 65 years, with various names, but always based in Verona or Cedar Grove. Members come from as far away as Clifton or Fairfield, but all are welcome. We rehearse every Tuesday night of the season from 7:30pm to 9:30pm at HB Whitehorne Middle School in Verona (Music Room – enter the door near Chase Bank, Verona Municipal Lot #1).

We are usually anywhere from 28 to 32 voices. Denise Bastanza of Verona has been our Director for at least a dozen years and sang with us before that. Helga Bartus of Montclair has been our accompanist for 2 years. We have people who have been with us 30… 35 years. All voices are welcome and we have recently been light on altos.

Audition is very informal… meet with the director during the break of the first rehearsal to confirm voice placement.

There are concerts in May and December, usually at Verona High School or Verona Community Center, but other locations are possible. Each concert is usually preceded earlier in the week by a benefit performance at a nursing home.

The spring season is usually more Broadway and pop tunes. The winter season is seasonal, some jazzy variations on classic Christmas songs, sometimes a piece from Messiah. This spring’s concert is being put together from requests by the members. In addition to the piano, we have had drums, trumpets, flutes, etc.
